CHEAP AND EASY PORTABLE FISH POND – A GOOD SOURCE OF ORGANIC FERTILIZER FOR YOUR PLANTS
Category: Videos
Hi! This is Going Organic. You can find our website at www.goingorganic.weebly.com. I am going to talk to you about making a cheap and easy portable goldfish pond for your yard. I’ve started using it as an easy source of organic fertilizer for the plants. I got the idea, while watching videos on aquaponics. They use fish water for fertilizing their plants in a hydroponic system. So I started scooping out the pond water and using it as liquid fertilizer for my plants. I started out with a small hard plastic fish pond in the ground in the back yard about 17 years ago. When we sold that house, I couldn’t bare to go without part of the pond. I separated part of the roots from the original lily and threw it in a 5 gallon bucket with some water. At the next house, I set up a 20 gallon pot and put some sand in the bottom to anchor the plants. Then I planted the lily in the pot. I added some standard gold fish and put a lawn chair next to it with some landscaping. In the evenings, I would sit next to the pond, while I fed the fish and looked out at the woods behind the house. There is something very relaxing about a fish pond. (Even the 20 gallon size.) Recently I read about aquaponic gardens set up with growing fish. The fish wastes in the water fertilize the plants. I started scooping out my pond water to use as organic fertilizer for plants in the yard and I add it to compost. I set up this 20 gallon pot recently. I just added about 2 inches of sand to the bottom with some …

Easy Steps To Start Organic Gardening!
Category: Articles
A lot of people are asking and searching for easy steps to start Organic Gardening. That’s the reason I am going to write this simple article that can help you to grow your own organic garden in your backyard or garden. The tips I am going to share are very simple and unique that anyone can design and grow a garden without any hassle or difficulty. So, feel free to read the whole article because it can help you a lot in many ways.
Proper Planning For The Organic Garden:
Proper planning is quite necessary to give a successful start to anything. You might have observed that a lot of people fail to achieve their goals while starting a new thing. This usually happens only because of improper planning and careless attitude. While gardening a backyard, it is very important for you to plan properly otherwise you’ll end up doing pointless stuff.
The very first thing while starting gardening is to find suitable location. A lot of people do not pay proper attention on this key point and they fail to attain required results. So, always follow four basic points while planning a garden design and location.
Spotty sunlight area that receives 5 – 6 hours sunbeams.
Drained soil.
Proper circulation of Air.
Avoid the place that’s in the way of strong winds.
The next important step after the above mentioned points is to choose the category of seeds you want to grow in the organic garden.
Preparing Required Well Drained Soil:
In case of any gardening, it is very important for you guys to prepare appropriate soil for the seeds. Soil is the second major key point after the planning of the garden. When it comes to organic gardening, it is quite important for you to keep the things as the way they were without doing anything extra. In this type of gardening, you have to get benefits from the natural resources and minerals that includes earth worms, bacteria and stuff like that because they are also a good source to provide non-synthetic plants and fruits.
Another best way to check the fertility of your soil is by examining its pH value. If it is around 6 – 7 then your soil is full of natural minerals. On the other hand, if the pH value is less then or more than this figure, you have to provide some extra resources to make the soil more fertile and compatible with the seeds you are going to grow. Always try to avoid excessive use of artificial soils and fertilizers because they are against the rule of an organic garden.
Proper Care And Maintenance:
After planning, soiling and planting it is very crucial for the gardener to take appropriate care of his organic garden. Unlike other types of gardening, organic gardening needs a lot of care and maintenance. So, feel free to provide proper care to your garden just like you provide care and importance to your small babies and I bet you will get meaningful results.
